ROBERT STEVENS STATEMENT

CONCERNING THE GREEN RIVER KILLER CONFESSIONS

Robert Stevens –brother of prime Green River suspect William J. Stevens II – claims families of slain victims are being “short-changed” in upcoming book.

Gary Ridgway, the man suspected of being the Green River Killer, has agreed to plead guilty this week to the murders of 48 women in a deal that would spare him from execution.  He is now widely considered to be the most prolific serial killer in U.S. history.

For Robert Stevens, the surviving brother of one of the prime Green River suspects, William J. Stevens II (“Billy”), this case is only partially solved.   “I believe that my brother was one of the Green River Killers, and was at the center of an organized group of killers,” Stevens claims.

“I have produced items which I believe contain DNA of two of my brother’s accomplices, but which authorities have refused to test for lack of probable cause.  Over the years, I’ve traced my brother’s footsteps and I now believe that there is enough evidence to keep this case open.”

Here are some of the facts:

·                     Billy Stevens had multiple identities and a variety of DBA’s he used over the years for the purpose of buying and selling guns and stolen vehicles, including a fully equipped ambulance and a police cruiser.  He even owned a taxicab.

·                     He was obsessed with law enforcement and had a large collection of authentic police paraphernalia including uniforms, badges and weapons.

·                     He possessed pornography and 100’s of Polaroid's of naked women in provocative poses.

·                     Stevens orchestrated complex “war games” with his accomplices, the majority of whom clearly demonstrated anti-social behavior.

“It’s my belief that authorities cut this deal with Ridgway to get him to confess to murders he didn’t commit.  I believe that my brother and his accomplices were also involved, and could be responsible for far more than 40 deaths--at least 100 deaths in my mind--that spanned the country: Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, California, Alabama, Georgia, and possibly back East,” concludes Stevens.
